You do not need your own boat to get started in sailing. We have a number of boats available to members for use during training activities and for hire during race days. Every effort is made to maintain these boats to good standards and they provide a useful range of craft for different skills and abilities

We always welcome enquiries from anyone interested in joining the club. If you want to come and have a look around or chat to someone please feel free to drop by anytime that we are sailing

We can only provide training to members. However once you have joined the club most of our training is free. We provide help with improving sailing skills, theory, safety boat crewing and race management. Club officers are always happy to advise new members. Training will take place throughout the season.   You can see the training activities planned for the forthcoming year via the link below.
The club has a number of boats that new members can hire (Note: use of club boats is free on Training days and days allocated to General Sailing)

Running of HPYC and duty rota

The club is run by the members for the benefit of the members. As such there are two volunteer committees which keep everything ticking along. The General Management Committee (GMC) which looks after the overall running of the club and the Sailing Committee which manages all of the clubs sailing activities.

All members are expected to undertake duties during the season. like most clubs we rely on volunteers and everyone doing their bit. The duties can vary according to your skills and ability. Typically the duties involve Safety Boat (Crew or Helm) , Race Officer or assistant (Training is provided before you are asked to perform these.  We are also always on the lookout for helpers to staff the galley.
