Chris' involvement in dinghy sailing started when he was a schoolboy in Singapore in the 1960s.
Throughout his career he has never missed an opportunity to go sailing, including sand-yachting
in the desert in Saudi Arabia! A member of HPYC since 2015, Chris has served in a variety of
roles on the GMC. He loves the Club and is wholeheartedly committed to its continuing growth and

I have been a member of HPYC for 50 years. During that time I have served as Commodore, Vice
Commodore, Rear Commodore, Sailing Secretary and Bosun. I have also served on the GMC for a
number of years. At present I am the water safety rep. For the club, and I sit on the Whitstable
and Herne Bay water safety committee.

I joined HPYC about 4 years ago and while I had sailed a little bit when much younger,
this the first time I had joined a club. You will normally find me messing up turns in my old
Comet, wondering where the faster boats have gone. This year I've added a Laser to my fleet, but as the time of writing this I haven't
had the chance to sail her.

Richard Myers
Vice Commodore and Fast Fleet Captain
Richard Myers
Hi, I’m Richard Myers. Originally from Wigan, I’ve been in Kent for over 30 years and joined
HPYC when my family and I moved to Greenhill in 2014. Sailing a bashed-up Laser with enthusiasm,
I’m Vice-Commodore and responsible (?!) for looking after the buildings and estate of the club.
I’m also Fast Fleet captain, so encourage those boats to participate as much as possible.
